Murphy was engaged to refurbish a Cadent Gas Above Ground Installation on behalf of Cadent Gas. In turn it was put to HCL to install a bespoke acoustic fence to minimise the noise generated by the plant, offer the necessary security protection while minimising any risk to the buried high pressure gas mains.
The solution designed was to supply and install significant RSJ posts buried 2 meters deep and 3 meters above ground clad with acoustic tongue and groove timber with a full permitter 300 x 300 concrete sill. This was then internally lined with 358 security mesh for added security. All posts were dug using a Vac Ex and lifting done under the supervision of Cadent Gas.
The outcome aligned perfectly with the proposal, giving an aesthetically pleasing solution offering both acoustic and security measures. The bespoke nature meant posts could be positioned to avoid crucial buried assets and flexibility in construction. A challenging yet highly successful project.
